Alaska Sled Dogs & Musher's Camp
Your journey begins with an entertaining historic tour from your knowledgeable guide through downtown Skagway and along nine miles of stunning coastline to our Musher’s Camp™ in Dyea. Next, hop into our specialized unimog for an exciting ride up our rugged mountain road, surrounded by glacially fed streams and waterfalls. At the top, your musher will greet you with a custom-designed wheeled summertime sled and a team of very excited Alaskan Huskies! Feel the power of these strong dogs as they whisk you down a mile-long, zig-zagging trail deep in the Tongass National Rainforest! After meeting your dog team, climb back into your unimog and enjoy the adventurous ride to a breathtaking overlook of the Dyea tidal flats. Depending on the month you just might see eagles, bears, seals, horseback riders, wild flowers, and of course snow-capped mountains. Your unimog will then bring you to what we like to call a “Kennel Talk.” We have been sharing our passion for dog sledding for years, and in that time we have gathered up the most frequently ask questions about the sport. In the Kennel Talk, we will share the fascinating answers and welcome any additional questions you may have. Of course, we make sure you have plenty of time to play with our puppies! Your affections actually socialize these future athletes, which is essential to their racing success. A crackling fire and a unique gift shop round out your visit. All of this in a spectacular Alaskan setting!

John, the dog musher, gave a very interesting presentation on being a musher, the dogs and dog sledding. The dog sledding itself was a once in a lifetime experience!

We were surprised to see the monster trucks and the steep terrain to get to the dog camp. Riding the unique monster truck and the fast dog sled.

This was the highlight of our 7 day Alaska cruise. Finding the shuttle was super easy- was at end of pier. Someone checked us in and we were off. Not a big group - about 10-12 including us. Drove about 30 mins with friendly commentary from our guide. Nice to learn about the area. Their little “camp” very cute. From there we took their omnimog-kinda an open air tank - 4 wheeler thing. Perfectly safe 15 mins up a picturesque hill. The dogs were waiting and excited for us. Our group of 4 got into 1 of their dog “sleds” and we were off. So much fun and we got lots of time having dogs pull us. They ran fast but all was tame. Our guide took pics for us and introduced us to each dog so we had time to pet and get personal with them. After that back to dog camp where we got a presentation about the dogs, dog mushing in Alaska etc then got to meet the puppies and hold them including some as little as 2 weeks old. My 16 year old twins really enjoyed this excursion! Was very well done and worth our time/money
