Alaska Sled Dogs & Musher's Camp
Your journey begins with an entertaining historic tour from your knowledgeable guide through downtown Skagway and along nine miles of stunning coastline to our Musher’s Camp™ in Dyea. Next, hop into our specialized unimog for an exciting ride up our rugged mountain road, surrounded by glacially fed streams and waterfalls. At the top, your musher will greet you with a custom-designed wheeled summertime sled and a team of very excited Alaskan Huskies! Feel the power of these strong dogs as they whisk you down a mile-long, zig-zagging trail deep in the Tongass National Rainforest! After meeting your dog team, climb back into your unimog and enjoy the adventurous ride to a breathtaking overlook of the Dyea tidal flats. Depending on the month you just might see eagles, bears, seals, horseback riders, wild flowers, and of course snow-capped mountains. Your unimog will then bring you to what we like to call a “Kennel Talk.” We have been sharing our passion for dog sledding for years, and in that time we have gathered up the most frequently ask questions about the sport. In the Kennel Talk, we will share the fascinating answers and welcome any additional questions you may have. Of course, we make sure you have plenty of time to play with our puppies! Your affections actually socialize these future athletes, which is essential to their racing success. A crackling fire and a unique gift shop round out your visit. All of this in a spectacular Alaskan setting!

This excursion was AMAZING! Our tour guide, Austin T. Was so much fun!! It was beautiful property. The dog sled was fun. The puppies were so soft & cuddly! Would do it again in a heartbeat! Meeting an actual Iditarod racer was so cool too!!

4 of us went on this tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were picked up from our cruise ship and driven to Diyea and entertained by Bart throughout the drive on some pretty rustic roads with amazing scenery. Upon arrival, we were introduced to the unimog which turned out to be an unexpectedly fun part of the trip as we journeyed quite high into the mountains along some steep trails. Once we got to the dog sleds, we then had a thrilling ride through the trails with some very capable and excited dogs. They were literally bouncing around they were so anxious to get running. Once our ride had ended they let us pet and interact with the dogs, and the leader Battleship was such a sweet boy. He nuzzled against me and enjoyed ALOT of pets. :) Back down the hill and we had a presentation from a musher who is competing and working towards iditarod ($30K just to enter!), named Denver. She gave us an informative presentation and then we got to play with the puppies and also pet some of the teenage puppies, just dogs everywhere! Puppies were adorable of course, and were a great way to end this tour. Really fantastic job by all the staff who execute on this tour, friendly knowledgeable, just made it a great experience.
