Overview

Get to know the dogs of Susitna Sled Dog Adventures! Join us in the dog yard and enjoy some fun with a lively group of sled dogs as they run around the fenced in yard. Explore the world of sled dogs, learn what it takes to compete in races, and understand why these incredible animals thrive in this unique role. We'll tell you stories about the dogs and share adventures from the trails. After some playtime in the yard, we'll dress up a dog in a harness, show you the sled, and talk about the winter gear we use. If we have any puppies, we'll end the visit cuddling with the next generation of athletes.

This is a great activity for dog lovers who want to learn about sled dogs, and more importantly, get a dose of dog therapy.

My husband spent alot of time listening to how things are handled, all I wanted to do is hang with the dogs! Only bad thing was it had rained & was sooo muddy so missed petting them all!! We were prepared to get muddy & we did! Several were left off of the leashes to first run around crazily & pee but most came back to get some pats! Saw how the dogs are hooked up to sleds & also brought some puppies in the little shed to play with. I would not go again on a muddy day…it’s gotta be dry! Very hospitable people trying to make a living!

We had a GREAT time visiting the dogs--and people!--at Susitna. Rohn introduced us to quite a few of the dogs and then led us on a walk with them around their property. The dogs were super friendly and obviously happy. Rohn and Alyssa shared so much knowledge with us and answered all of our endless questions. And it was great to see little Kaladin starting early in the family business. :) We even got to meet ten 9 week old puppies! Super cute. Really enjoyed ourselves.

I was traveling with my 20 yr old son, staying in Talkeetna, and we had an afternoon to burn. I called Susitna Sled Dog Adventures and spoke to Alyssa. She set up a tour, I think it was same day. We had a blast! Rohn spent so much time with us introducing us to the dogs--oh my gosh, there were so many beautiful pups--taking them for a walk on their beautiful property and telling us all about sled dog racing and caring for the dogs on his team. And we got hang out with the new puppies. What a cool experience! I hope to go back in winter and go out on the trail with these amazing dogs.
