Isabelle is super! Her tours are great! She may be a little more expensive, but the old saying, “You get what you pay for!” is true! When I booked, she was the only one that took you on an airboat and two plantations.
I have read folks complain about it was too long, not in my opinion! Folks read the details. She is upfront about the tour length. The swamp and plantations are a good ways from New Orleans and each other, so there is a lot of travel time. I would recommend adding an hour to the tour, see details below. Time flew and was very enjoyable. This tour was my favorite thing I did on my vacation!
Rene was our driver and guide. He was excellent! Felt like I had known him all my life! He is full of great information from history to what to eat and where to eat it!
I recommend booking a tour near the beginning of your visit to take advantage of some of Rene’s recommendations. Can’t go wrong with his recommendations!
The swamp tour was one of my favorite things I did on my visit to New Orleans! I wanted to travel with a small group and ride on a small airboat! It was great we saw lots of alligators.
I did not know it included a mud facial! We went during low tide, and we sat on the front row. I have not heard anyone say, you get mud splashed all over you on the front row. We did! We were covered. Luckily the mud washed out of our clothes. We did have to walk around the rest of the day muddy. I was washing mud off me all day long. Even so, it was great! I would recommend letting folks know you can get very muddy, especially on the front row. I am not sure if this happens often because Rene seemed to be shocked. All it would take is to hand folks a piece of plastic or a trash bag.
Laura Plantation was lovely. I wanted to visit a creole plantation. The history is incredible and unimaginable!
Houmas House and Gardens are beautiful! We really didn’t have time to walk through the gardens or museum. I would recommend adding another hour to this tour to be able to see everything. One of the craziest things here is the owner lets you tour his bedroom and office that he uses every day! The first wedding is so sweet!
Very few gluten-free items available at lunch. Red beans and rice were very tasty. However, that and a salad was about it for gluten-free, according to the signage on the offerings. Adult drinks and ice cream available for a fee.
Once again, you can’t go wrong touring with Isabelle!
