Join Coastal Kayak Charters for a small group guided kayak tour of the Shell Key Preserve. We are St Pete's top rated kayak tour company and focus exclusively on small groups and private tours. Our trips offer more personalized service and better wildlife viewing opportunities while out on the water. We will explore hidden mangrove tunnels (tides permitting), shallow seagrass meadows, and stop on Shell Island for time to swim, look for shells, or just relax and enjoy the beach. Our tours are designed for beginners and experienced kayakers alike. We use stable user friendly kayaks that provide a great paddling experience. We primarily use double kayaks unless you have an odd number in your group. If you prefer single kayaks they are available through our website. **Weight Limit** 250lbs per seat | 450lbs combined for double kayaks.

*Ages 3+ | 3-12 must be in a double kayak with an adult or older child.

*Please arrive to launch site 30min early, there are no public facilities available at site.

We travelled specifically to do this kayaking trip. If there is any bench mark to perfection, this was it. Right from the time we entered the parking point till the point we left, we felt welcomed, safe and enjoyed every bit of it. Doug and Ross were very professional and very knowledgeable. Doug guided the tour and he was accommodating, helpful and was fun as well. It is rare to see a tour anchor enjoying the trip along with us during the tour and I can clearly say Doug enjoys what he is doing and that gives us a double bonus of enjoying the trip to maximum. We literally saw everything including the dolphins. Never seen these many wildlife in a single place. I am scared of water and I felt safe the entire time. I recommend this to everyone visiting the area. A big thank you to Doug from Karthik & family. I can’t believe I am saying this considering my fear of water, we will be back.

Awesome kayaking experience! These guys know about kayaking! This trip allows you to see a few different ecosystems which adds to the whole experience. We saw a dolphin from afar and many bird species, but no other exciting wildlife - but that's just bad luck, not any fault of the tour or the guide! I am very out of shape and though my arms tired as I paddled my single kayak, I was not sore the next day:) I would definitely recommend doing this trip early in your stay in the area. Our guide even made the effort to take pictures of us at several different sites and sent them via text. It will give you the confidence to rent a kayak at Fort DeSoto and do your own little bit of exploring!
