Join Coastal Kayak Charters for a small group guided kayak tour of the Shell Key Preserve. We are St Pete's top rated kayak tour company and focus exclusively on small groups and private tours. Our trips offer more personalized service and better wildlife viewing opportunities while out on the water. We will explore hidden mangrove tunnels (tides permitting), shallow seagrass meadows, and stop on Shell Island for time to swim, look for shells, or just relax and enjoy the beach. Our tours are designed for beginners and experienced kayakers alike. We use stable user friendly kayaks that provide a great paddling experience. We primarily use double kayaks unless you have an odd number in your group. If you prefer single kayaks they are available through our website. What's Included

**Weight Limit** 250lbs per seat | 450lbs combined for double kayaks.

*Ages 3+ | 3-12 must be in a double kayak with an adult or older child.

*Please arrive to launch site 30min early, there are no public facilities available at site.

My family and I were traveling to St. Pete for a few days and looking for kid-friendly activities around the area to mix in with our beach time. We are so glad that we found Coastal Kayak Charters! Before I signed up for a tour for my family (including 3 and 5 year olds), I had a bunch of questions. Though the guys at Coastal Kayak and I played phone tag, they were able to answer my questions with much detail in voicemails, which I appreciated and made planning easy. They were very enthusiastic in their messages and obviously very willing to help in any way (something that continued through our tour with them). I truly appreciated all of the communication and information they shared before our tour. The moment we arrived on the morning of our tour, we were greeted by Doug and his team who treated us like long time friends and family. They introduced themselves, asked for our names and told us that they would take care of each of us. The tour group was small and intimate, only two other kayaks in addition to ours and our guide Doug. This made the tour relaxing and easy to engage with Doug and the others and travel through mangrove tunnels. (We saw other kayak tours that looked like they had 10+ kayaks in their groups.) Doug was very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna that we saw and answered all of our questions. He pointed out all of the cool stuff for us city slickers to see. He continued to share his excitement and energy throughout the tour, treating us like friends rather than customers. Doug's best attributes were his patience and entertainment with our 3 and 5 year olds. Our kids are pretty adventurous, but you still never know when you take them out on a 3 hour kayak tour. But Doug engaged with them for the entire time and made sure they had fun, including giving our 3 year old his own paddle so he could partake. Overall, the four of us had a great experience. We'd definitely plan another tour with Doug and the team at Coastal Kayak when we're back in the St. Pete area.
