Join Coastal Kayak Charters for a small group guided kayak tour of the Shell Key Preserve. We are St Pete's top rated kayak tour company and focus exclusively on small groups and private tours. Our trips offer more personalized service and better wildlife viewing opportunities while out on the water. We will explore hidden mangrove tunnels (tides permitting), shallow seagrass meadows, and stop on Shell Island for time to swim, look for shells, or just relax and enjoy the beach. Our tours are designed for beginners and experienced kayakers alike. We use stable user friendly kayaks that provide a great paddling experience. We primarily use double kayaks unless you have an odd number in your group. If you prefer single kayaks they are available through our website. **Weight Limit** 250lbs per seat | 450lbs combined for double kayaks.

*Ages 3+ | 3-12 must be in a double kayak with an adult or older child.

*Please arrive to launch site 30min early, there are no public facilities available at site.

I took this tour twice because it was so good. Coastal Kayak only takes out small groups and purposefully does not use clear kayaks because they are not running a marketing gimmick. Coastal Kayak was the first company to start the kayak tours near the shell preserve and they are truly focus on the customer experience. During the tour, the guides answer any questions you have about the area. The guides know the animals and the history of the shell key preserve. They also modify the tour based on the wind so you don't have to kayak against the current the entire time. One of the best parts of the tour is taking the 30-minute break on the small isolated beach midway through the tour. I recommend taking the morning tour before it gets hot and be prepared to paddle. The guide do takes a lot of breaks, but it is still slightly tiring.

Had an excellent trip with Doug to Shell Key and the mangroves. It was the perfect day for kayaking. I wish we'd been on the water the entire day, it was so relaxing and beautiful.
