We participated in the group swim with the Manatees today 2/18/2019 with our Captains Dustin and Memphis. The tour was amazing, the quality was very high. And it was also great, that our guides gave information's about the Manatees and their way of living and we also felt that the guides and the whole organization, that is organizing these tours, really care about the animals, because they approached the animals very carefully. Also they had great, warm swim suits and cocoa and coffee at the boat to warm up after the swim. We were able to see the Manatees really close and they gave us all the time we needed and did never rush, which was amazing. Also, we got the pictures of the tour on a little USB stick, which is shaped as a little Manatee, which is so cute. Thanks again, we will definetly come back and would choose the same tour again! Warm regards Katy and Marcus

I have been wanting to swim with manatees for years. Driving home from Tampa recently I decided to spend the night at Plantation on Crystal River(separate review for hotel) and check out the dive shop next door. We chose the 6:45 a.m. tour. My 15 year old daughter has only snorkeled once in a pool. I used to snorkel a lot but it has been years. We were given wet suits and then watched a short video on rules around manatees. Captain Ed and Steve were awesome! Ed helped my daughter out a lot, staying right beside her and making sure she got to see a manatee up close. It took a little getting used to the buoyance of the wet suit, but they definitely kept us warm. We stopped in two spots and encountered manatees in both. They offered coffee and hot chocolate when we got back on the boat. A variety of age groups were on the tour(including adventurous seniors). Well worth the money, highly recommend!

We made reservations for this trip through the Adventure Center which is on the Plantation on Crystal River property. I have always been intrigued with manatees and experiencing them in the wild was high on my ā€œbucket listā€. The ā€œsmall groupā€ included a family with two young children and myself. I was really impressed with Captain Lance and Captain Memphis because they patiently got me aclamated to the equipment as well as engaged with the experienced couple. Both Captains demonstrated their passion for their work, and seemed to be very respected by guides of the other companies. Captain Lance made sure I did not miss anything underwater, and when the youngest member of the family wanted to stop to look at a turtle, he took the time to let her see something she was interested in before returning to the manatees. This built up her trust and comfort to in participating which made for a better experience for her parents. Captain Lance was respectful but firm when snorklers from other companies unknowingly did things that frightened the manatees and this was much appreciated. Despite the fact that conditions were less than ideal, Captain Memphis was determined to locates the manatees, and he did. In addition to a great underwater experience, Captain Lance shared a lot of information about the wildflife which made it even better. Their experience and credentials as US Master Coast Guard Captains would have impressed seasoned divers, but the fact that they wanted a beginner like myself to do so well, really makes them stand out in their profession.
