Excellent tour of a cypress bayou, half an hour outside New Orleans. Our guide, Chelsea, was engaging, informative, and charming. She told us of the history of that waterway and about the flora and fauna of the area. There were alligators, alligator gar, egrets, kingfisher, and whistling duck to name a few of the animals. The actual kayaking takes a little over two hours and I'd say it was quite easy as these things go. Depending on conditions, there can be a few shallow spots which require some effort to clear. This team keeps the tour size down, making for a more personal experience. For us, it was just two people but their policy is to keep the groups small as a rule. An experienced kayaker could do this without a guide, but it would be hard to pick out the interesting navigable routes. I've kayaked a great deal yet I was grateful for our guide. Highly recommended.

We paid for transportation, and it was wonderful. The driver dropped us off in front of where we are staying. The guide was very informative on what was edible, great places for pictures, history of the swamp. The kayaks were fun. The 2 teenagers i took say they want to kayak in the olympics next, after doing this tour. We had never kayaked before.

We are so happy we did this kayak trip. If you're visiting the area, this is a great opportunity to really experience the nature and history of Louisiana rather than just staying in the city. Max and Josh are excellent guides - very friendly and knowledgable. The setting is absolutely surreal, and learning the history of the swamps makes the experience even more so. Josh and Max educated the group on the wildlife and history of the swamps and its settlers. There are parts of the swamp where the plant growth makes it more difficult to paddle through, so if you have younger children you should share a kayak or canoe with them. We highly recommend this tour!
