We chose this tour because we wanted something more up-close and personal than being on a boat with a bunch of people. It was the right choice. We e-mailed to request Max because other reviews said he was excellent. He was! He is incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating. Being on the kayak in the bayou was a great experience. We saw one small gator, spiders, turtles and some beautiful birds. Had we gone earlier, we would have seen more wildlife but Max informed us that they don't run tours earlier in the day because people tend to cancel after late nights out. This is disappointing for people like us who would much rather see wildlife than bar-hop. We didn't get on the water until about 10:30am and left around 1. This is a two-ish hour tour but with 45 minutes of travel to the bayou each way with a stop for water/bathrooms. As a result, we left our hotel at 9ish and didn't get back until about 2. Definitely account for this when planning. Regardless, the bayou was beautiful and we were happy with our decision. Thanks, Max!

I had a great time with my friends kayaking the bayou with our amazing tour guide Max. I had been on a gator tour before but it was nice being more active this go around. We were there on a cloudy day (something the gators don't love) but Max did a great job of still keeping us entertained by teaching about other wildlife and plants we were paddling around. I would highly suggest this tour!

DO THIS!!! Went out with Max, one of the best guides I've ever had. Max knows everything about the swamp - how to cook nutria, foods the indigenous people ate, and where the gators are. They have very good equipment, are cordial, very organized, and run a safe tour. You'll feel very comfortable. I would consider myself an experienced kayaker - been 'yaking in British Columbia, Southern CA, Chicago area, parts of Georgia, and must say the Manchac swamp is one of the stand outs. Very easy for kids and beginners. Go to Manchac with Wild Louisiana Tours rather than the Honey Island tour - not nearly as pretty or peaceful. Josh and Max are fantastic!!!
