I discovered that a swamp can be airy and cool, open and refreshing, and sunny enough to get a sunburn if you aren't careful. Chris and Josh were a little late in picking us up, but it was a joy to avoid renting a car to get out of the city. They are both very low key, but willing and open to answer questions and give their opinions if asked. The double seat-on kayak that we used was very stable and easy to maneuver. The tour was very laid back, although the guys were always trying to find animal and plant wildlife to point out to us. There were water hyacinths, arrowroot, bald cypress, tupelo gum, red maple, dwarf palmetto, spanish moss, pileated woodpeckers, an eagle nest, greater egrets, and a couple alligators. Couldn't have had a better set of guides to introduce us to the Louisiana swamps.
