Our new heated (during winter), luxury pontoon aims to amp up the manatee sighting and deliver a more personal event! Observe the endangered West Indian Manatee in Crystal River’s idyllic Kings Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Your US Coast Guard licensed captains and guides will take you into the 600 acre spring fed refuge waters for viewing and snorkeling with these slow moving wild giants. All equipment, fees, snacks and beverages are included.

What To Expect

River Ventures

Embark on your journey with a Coast Guard Certified Master Captain who will be your in water chaperon, educator and photographer. Your tour will run four hours from start to finish and everything you will need is included for one price. You will begin at our full-service tour facility, where you will be educated about the animals in a classroom type setting and receive tips for your snorkel tour to make the most of your day. You will be taught the in’s and out’s of ‘passive interaction’ as this ensures that the animals enjoy the experience as much as we do! You will then be suited up and transported to the dock, where a Coast Guard certified covered pontoon will be waiting for you. This rich estuary will amaze…..birds, fish and wildlife abound! Submerge yourself in the manatee’s world! Finish your adventure by viewing your Captain’s photos back at our facility and be sure to visit our one-of-a-kind gift shop! Our well-informed staff will direct to other local attractions, restaurants and answer of your questions before you are on your way.

We booked 3 swims with 3 different companies (including River Venture) and I can honesty say River Venture sets the bar very high across all categories when it comes to the tours. While all 3 were about the same cost, RV had a very nice heated boat, better pictures and most importantly- they onboarded/prepped the swimmers very thoroughly in order for everyone to act appropriately around the manatee. This is critical because if swimmers aren't properly coached on how to behave they can do things to scare the manatee away. We were lucky to have a cold snap during our visit so the manatee were very plentiful. Not all tour companies are the same and I'm so grateful we were able to check this off the bucket list. It was a dream come true and River Ventures made it an unforgettable experience! Not all tour companies are the same and I would highly recommend going with River Ventures to ensure you have a wonderful time.

Our captain Tanner and guide Dave were great! They gave us a lot of info during the boat tour. We took a semi-private tour with 6 people on board. I really appreciated the respect they have for the manatees! Would absolutaly recommend this tour!

I’ve always wanted to swim with manatees but had never snorkeled or worn a wet suit before (they had ALL sizes available). My boyfriend and I booked the small group VIP pontoon tour (we were a group of 6) and Jose was our guide! He and our captain worked well together to find the most relaxing manatee experience for us and we found a family of 3! The pontoon also included snacks and adult beverages. We had a great time and would recommend the experience to anyone! All ages!
