Observe the endangered West Indian Manatee in Crystal River’s idyllic Kings Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Your US Coast Guard licensed captains and guides will take you into the 600 acre spring fed refuge waters for viewing and snorkeling with these slow moving wild giants. All equipment, fees, snacks and beverages are included.

What To Expect

River Ventures

Embark on your journey with a Coast Guard Certified Master Captain who will be your in water chaperon, educator and photographer. Your tour will run four hours from start to finish and everything you will need is included for one price. You will begin at our full-service tour facility, where you will be educated about the animals in a classroom type setting and receive tips for your snorkel tour to make the most of your day. You will be taught the in’s and out’s of ‘passive interaction’ as this ensures that the animals enjoy the experience as much as we do! You will then be suited up and transported to the dock, where a Coast Guard certified covered pontoon will be waiting for you. This rich estuary will amaze…..birds, fish and wildlife abound! Submerge yourself in the manatee’s world! Finish your adventure by viewing your Captain’s photos back at our facility and be sure to visit our one-of-a-kind gift shop! Our well-informed staff will direct to other local attractions, restaurants and answer of your questions before you are on your way.

We had the best time! Excellent crew with Captain Chip and Sara as our guide. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Chip knew right where to put us and Sara knew just what to tell us. The weather was chilly, in the 50s, which meant more manatees in the Crystal River. We probably saw 100 manatees, had several face-to-face conversations with a few, heard the babies squeaking for their moms, and then just sat back and watched the parade. We had coffee, hot cocoa and snacks in the heated pontoon boat for the ride back. It was perfect! Ask for Chip and Sara… You’ll be glad you did!

My parents and I semi-private manatee swim tour. I swam with the manatees and it was the best time of my life! Lindsay and Peter were the best! I was very fortunate to have one on one with Lindsay for almost 3 hours swimming with the manatees and she was great! This a once in a lifetime experience. I'm in awe over how the manatees came up to me, nuzzled me, and seemed to be loveable to me. Amazing!! Thank you Lindsay and Peter for such an amazing and awesome experience.

I went into this with a certain amount of trepidation since I don't swim. Our guides, Captain Wade and Trisha did an excellent job explaining exactly what to expect, what it's like, etc. I was really happy that Captain Wade took us to two of the smaller springs where we immediately saw a bunch of manatees and were able to interact with them without a huge number of other people crowding us. I was really concerned about crowding since we visited Three Sisters Springs the day before and you could almost walk across the river on snorkelers where the springs open into the river. Trisha did a fantastic job of making sure everyone got up close and personal with the manatees and took about 140 pictures of us and the manatees. Swimming with the manatees is truly one of those must do, once in a lifetime adventures as much as that cliche is over used. I would definitely return to do it again and specifically ask for Captain Wade and Trisha as my guides.
