Observe the endangered West Indian Manatee in Crystal River’s idyllic Kings Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Your US Coast Guard licensed captains and guides will take you into the 600 acre spring fed refuge waters for viewing and snorkeling with these slow moving wild giants. All equipment, fees, snacks and beverages are included.

What To Expect

River Ventures

Embark on your journey with a Coast Guard Certified Master Captain who will be your in water chaperon, educator and photographer. Your tour will run four hours from start to finish and everything you will need is included for one price. You will begin at our full-service tour facility, where you will be educated about the animals in a classroom type setting and receive tips for your snorkel tour to make the most of your day. You will be taught the in’s and out’s of ‘passive interaction’ as this ensures that the animals enjoy the experience as much as we do! You will then be suited up and transported to the dock, where a Coast Guard certified covered pontoon will be waiting for you. This rich estuary will amaze…..birds, fish and wildlife abound! Submerge yourself in the manatee’s world! Finish your adventure by viewing your Captain’s photos back at our facility and be sure to visit our one-of-a-kind gift shop! Our well-informed staff will direct to other local attractions, restaurants and answer of your questions before you are on your way.

Troy and Paige were excellent Captain and Guide! They provided refreshments and snackies, their advice was exemplary, and our experience outlived our expectations. The dogs in the shop were trill, the equipment was in great shape, and they were adept at teaching first timers. The excellent staff aside, the water was clear. The animals were majestic, awe inspiring, and gentle. The environment was beautiful and remarkably clean. Would schnorkle again. 5/5

The experience was awesome! Emerson and Lindsay did an amazing job! The two of them had us with manatees in no time and gave us some incredible pictures to take home. My family loved this tour!

We had the most AMAZING experience with this tour group! They are extremely professional and nice. We enjoyed the educational part before moving onto the tour. All of the employees really know the business and love these wild animals! They were helpful from the booking of the tour, the fitting of our wet suits, right down to how to get in and out of the boat! Our tour guide Paige and our boat captain Peter knew exactly where to go and spotted manatee almost immediately out of the dock. We were lucky enough to see a manatee nursing her baby very first thing! Next we came upon a group of about 15 manatee(very rare for summer time). We got out and swam there with them for more than 30mins. Paige guided us and helped us be calm when the manatee touched us. You as a human are not supposed to touch them so we were REALLY nervous when they nudge us as they swam by. During the tour Capt. Peter educated us about the natural species of algae that had over grown and how the community is changing this to help the wildlife to grow more eel grass . We then went to Jurassic spring. That was the clearest water we have ever snorkeled in! Even better than Hawaii! There we encounter another mother nursing her baby and a few other fish! It was definitely the experience of a lifetime!!! It is worth it! I would have paid triple for this tour knowing what I know now! You can’t go wrong this this company!
