Join us on a full-day, small-group wine tour of the Spectacular Napa Valley wine country! You’ll visit three charming, back roads wineries and be served a picnic lunch in an idyllic winery setting. Your tour guide will tell fascinating stories and share many interesting tidbits about local history, culture and wine making. Our specialty is intimate, light hearted and truly memorable experiences. Your guide will set up a tasty picnic lunch for you at a picturesque winery. Once the tour concludes, you will be dropped off from where you were picked up. The tour typically has 8-12 guests on board.

We are showing awesome (and COVID-safe) wine tours! Vehicles are frequently sanitized. Hand sanitizer on bus. Per CDC transportation guidelines, we recommend guests wear masks on board the tour shuttle. Safe, but still really fun.

Your tour will begin with pickup from your Napa Valley hotel. Where you are staying will define the tour region that you will be visiting. If your accommodations are outside of the winery region, you can arrange to meet us a general meeting spot. You’ll visit three charming, backroads wineries and be served a picnic lunch in an idyllic winery setting. Your tour guide will tell fascinating stories and share many interesting tidbits about local history, culture and wine making. This is not a smarmy or touristy activity. Our specialty is intimate, light-hearted and truly memorable. This tour is sure to entertain with a very approachable and easy-going style. Discover and savor new experiences tasting some of the world’s most celebrated wines. Our typical guest is not necessarily a wine expert but keen to learn a bit about wine and wine-making, and is open to sharing the experience with a few other like-minded wine adventurers.

Don't try to do wine tasing on your own when there are unique tours like Platypus. You'll discover great wineries, off the beaten path, and spend the day with fun adventurous wine lovers like you. Kudos to our tour guide Gary!!

We have toured Napa Valley with Platypus Tours at least six times now (one or two trips per year). They focus on introducing us to smaller boutique wineries, many of which do not sell through distributors. We typically hit 4 - 5 wineries and always discover 1 or 2 gems each trip. We recently toured with Melissa and she was delightful, knowledgeable and she put up with our rowdyness! Platypus tries to introduce us to wineries that we haven't visited previously and they have accommodated some of our special requests. Highly recommended!

We loved our time with Platypus...we booked the tour as two couples, who have enjoyed wine (and raising kids & more) together for 30+ years. The expectation was that it would be a fun way to spend the day adding to our short trip to San Francisco - our expectations were far exceeded with the fun and informative day with Gary. Our tour was very small, and we gained a couple of new friends from Canada, learned a fabulous amount about wine making, tasting, buying, and personal preferences. Each winery was special in its own way, but Bouchaine & Sheena (our tasting host) were extraordinary! The scenic drive was comfortable in a clean and spacious "mini bus", and the cheese plate and provided picnic lunch added much needed delicious food to the overall experience! There is a lot of fabulous wine to taste, so take it easy and pace yourself; on the last stop, several of us paired up and shared one tasting between two, an option we wish we had thought of earlier in the day. The logistics as far as being met and dropped off at the Vallejo ferry were smooth and unstressed - however, we learned that the ferry ticket office at Vallejo closes before 5 pm, so you need to buy a round trip ticket when you leave San Francisco. Gary was entertaining and knowledgeable about wines and the Napa area; he knows people and how to make them comfortable with humor and personalized stories. We would definitely recommend this amazing day with Platypus Wine Tours! And BUY WINE - we loved being able to show our appreciation by purchasing a couple of bottles - these are wines you will not find again!
