This tour was run by Best Bay Area Tours with Phil Siegel as our guide and driver. Right from the start, he wanted us to have the best possible experience, explaining the agenda for the day and what to expect. Interesting commentary was provided throughout the journey along with a comfort break about half-way to and from Yosemite. Phil had taken the time and trouble of developing different playlists to accompany various stages of the tour and had interesting snippets of information along the way, such as the history of the gold country, and the evolution and land use of the Central Valley. This continued throughout the tour of Yosemite, including regular stops at key vantage points so we could view and photograph famous sites and views. He showed genuine concern about the group and its welfare throughout the tour. For example, an early morning start was recommended to avoid long queues the at park entrance, which would have wasted valuable time. At our lunch stop he advised as to the facilities available as well as different places of interest to picnic. He had also invested in high powered lenses so we could see climbers on El Capitan, showed us how to take panoramas on mobile phones resulting in exceptional images, and provided cold storage and additional cold drinking water later in the day for the short hike on the Tuolumne Trail to see the giant sequoias. Phil was friendly, professional, and personable, ensuring we got as much from the trip as possible in the time available. I thoroughly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see the highlights of Yosemite and the associated region of California in a day.
