4 of us booked a Segway tour so we could explore the Sonoran Desert on wheels. 3 of us had been on Segways before and our 4th had no trouble learning. We were all given instructions and practice for the 1st 20 minutes or so. Then our guides took us to the trails. We had an AMAZING time. The trails, although narrow, were relatively easy to navigate with a few challenging twists and turns. Be careful to avoid brushing up against the bushes-I came home with a rash! Rae and Lea (sisters) were the guides and they were a HOOT! They were funny and knowledgeable and made sure we had lots of photo stops. Tip-if you book the last tour of the day your guides don't have to rush to get back for the next tour. Bonus!!

Went on Sega Tour with cowboy Wayne, kinda a "ham Bone", but a lot of fun and very knowledgeable. The heavy duty desert ready Sega's were in top shape, and ready for a great off road adventure.

We just got back from our 2 hour off-road segway tour in the Sonoran Desert, on the Fort McDowell reservation, just east of Scottsdale, AZ. A Segway tour has been a (minor) #bucketlist item for me for a while, but just couldn't spend the money to roll around a city somewhere. This one uses the Segway X2 off-road machines to cruise around a marked trail. They provide training, water, photo opps, and frequent stops where the guides point out interesting information about the local tribe, ecosystem, flora, etc. We used a Groupon which made the price even better, but even without that, it would have been well worth it. If you are in the Phoenix area and have a half-day free, give them a ring and make a reservation. Groups are small. We went out with a group of 6, so we had multiple guides for segway training, but then Cowboy Wayne was mostly clearing rocks from the trail ahead of us, while Cowgirl Lea led the group. She added knowledge...and entertainment...and this really was a great last-minute add to our trip. My son, who didn't even want to go, said it was his 2nd favorite item on the agenda, which included an NHL game, NASCAR race, Spring Training game, visit to Penske's museum and luxury dealerships, and a visit to Chase Field, so that should give you some perspective.
