Saint Michaels Church, the Greek Bakery, the sponge exchange market and sponge boat docks. We learned about the history of the Greek divers and Greek and Jamaican influences throughout the community of Tarpon Springs.

Krisula gave us a wonderful tour -- In just an hour and a half we understood a lot more about the real reason Tarpon Springs exists (besides the yummy Greek restaurants and fun stores) .. she even took us to a 100-year old still family owned bakery for pastry (we had baklava and a slice of a custard pastry called galatoburiko .... so good!!) ... We enjoyed our time here much more after learning about the history-- so if you plan to visit this area-- I highly recommend this tour!

We expected a tour of the sponge docks with emphasis on boating and the sponge industry. Very little time was devoted to that. What we learned about the history of the city was interesting but not relevant to the sponge industry
