Overall a really wonderful tour (we saw TONS of whales and wildlife and the beautiful and spectacular Holgate Glacier!) BUT... the tour is VERY long and definitely be prepared for getting sea-sick. I am not a girl who gets sea sick and it was difficult so definitely come prepared! Would I recommend doing it? Absolutely yes! It was so incredible to see the whales and the wildlife in their natural habitat and the beauty surrounding us was incredible and Holgate Glacier on this tour which we did after seeing the animals! It was simply so gorgeous it was unbelievable! I would also recommend the company! You can read more of my review on my blog, Caravan Sonnet if you are interested!

I am from Alaska and have been on a handful of these excursions out of Seward. It wasn’t a nice day weather wise, however we knew being residents this was a possibility. Cruising around the bay wasn’t bad. But once we started going between islands the seas got pretty rough. The captain was talking about a big storm rolling In, so she had full knowledge of this before we went out there. The whole lower deck of our boat got sea sick, our family included. Instead of turning the boat around, she was determined to find whales. We only saw a few humpbacks , and purposes. Never saw a gray whale which was what the tour was about. The captain didn’t seem to listen to her crew, or other passengers. A few of us spotted an orca but she kept going. This happened a few other times with other whales. The two main toilets clogged leaving us with a odd smell when standing outside trying to get over being sea sick. Like I’ve said , we’ve been on a few of these and this was the worst experience we’ve had. The captain can make the trip; she wasn’t up to par.

I took this tour just to see the whales. I was disappointed. I saw mountain goats and sea lions only.
