St. Augustine Ghost Tour: A Ghostly Encounter

Overview

This is a 90-minute, unscripted walking tour that will take guests deep into St. Augustine’s darker history. Professionally licensed guides share stories passed from one generation to the next about the oldest city’s strange and difficult past. Tours are multi-generational, family friendly and pet friendly. Although guests with mobility limitations will also enjoy the tour, there are some steeets that may present a problem for certain wheelchairs/motorized wheelchairs.

Tours include some history and a lot of mystery. Guides will also provide instructions on how to use ghost hunting tools (which can be rented for $5). Guests are allowed and encouraged to bring along their own ghost hunting tools as well.

We just returned to our b&b after having gone on, by far, the best ghost tour we have ever gone on. Jan, our guide, was very knowledgeable, witty, and personable. She made the stories come alive! Because of my previous job as an elementary principal, I had taken sixth graders to visit St. Augustine for 23 years in a row. I thought I had heard everything about the ancient city, but, tonight, I realized that that was far from the truth. Jan, a former history teacher, brought to life some of the stories that you never hear about. I rarely give more than a few dollars for a tip, but after tonight’s superb tour, I felt compelled to give generously. We were happy to find an activity that we could do with our dog. Dusti was our tour guide. We arrived a bit too early because we wanted to make sure we knew where to go. Everyone was very nice. Unfortunately about 20 minutes into the tour my poor dog, who we had dragged to various tourist sites throughout the day decided she had had enough. I took her back to the car so she could rest while my sister continued the tour. She enjoyed it a lot and relayed to me all of the interesting things she had learned on the tour. The next time I am in St Augustine I intend to take the tour, but leave the dog at the hotel.

Jan was a great tour guide, both of my kids really enjoyed how engaging she was. My oldest child said it was the best thing we did all day. The entire process was very easy, I called and spoke with Lisa, who was very helpful.
