It is one of the most well known fountains in the world, and the statue at its center was the only sculpture to have been commissioned as a part of Central Park's original design. This neoclassical sculpture, also known as Angel of the Waters, features an eight-foot bronze angel who stands above four small cherubim representing health, purity, temperance, and peace. The angel herself carries a lily in one hand while the other remains outstretched, poised in the action of delivering a blessing on the water pouring from around her feet and into the basin at the bottom of the fountain. This is to commemorate the 1842 opening of the Croton Aqueduct, which supplied New York City with fresh water.

Sarah our guide was excellent and knowledgeable. She volunteered to take many photos of us and took time to make the tour very enjoyable. Highly recommended!

We decided at the last minute to take a carriage ride and it was one of the many highlights of the trip. Mike and his horse Rocky were great! We got to see Central Park in a way that didn’t hurt our already tired legs from a lot of walking the day before.

We only visited New York for 2 1/2 days (not long enough). We had to see Central Park. It was our last day there, and were worn out from walking. Saw the carriages and decided to take a carriage ride. We walked up and Sera came over to greet us. She introduced us to Silver. We decided to go for it and are very happy we did. We took the one hour tour and Sera was very interesting to listen to and told us about all the different areas and buildings bordering the park. After the ride, she even took us to the subway entrance so we could go back downtown to our hotel. We would do it again and highly recommend looking for Sera.
