I was really glad we took this tour. Our guide was v-e-r-y knowledgeable. The only thing I'd change is to add a little more humor or I can't even believe I'm saying this less information. It was just a bit dry. It was like too much of a good thing. He tried to cram every possible bit of information into the tour and after 3 or 4 hours, it was just a bit tiring. Other than that, awesome! Again, knowing what I know now, I'd still do the tour. Don't let this dissuade you. GO for it! This tour is great!!
The tour was good, but not great. 3/4 of the time was spent at the statue of liberty including a half hour to discuss the skyline of Manhattan in 90 degree blazing sun and heat. Half the tour moved away to stand in the shade. There were probably 8 - 10 children on the tour and it was not interested for them and many of the adults. Also not part of the description Once we arrived at Ellis island, we were asked to sit in the chairs in two different spots where Derek lectured including some detailed gross description of scrubbing under eyelids as people came in to America which wasn't on what I would have wanted my eleven year old to focus. We never toured the exhibits or upper floors of Ellis Island museum which was missing a lot of very interesting items. Summation is the Statue of Liberty was great, but Ellis Island was an incomplete experience.
Very informative and fun tour. Tour guide was fantastic.
