Salem is nearly 400 years old and just like all of us, it has a dark side. An underbelly wrought with stories for the ages. Join us for our 90 min evening walking tour as we wander through the shadows and hear stories about pirates and pepper, secrets of the oldest cemetery in Salem, brutal murders, strange legal battles, curses, spiders, torture, and of course a ghost story or two. We invite you to be part of our story and learn why true history is Better Than Fiction. -All tour guides are licensed by the City of Salem and are professional storytellers .

I’ve been to Salem many times over the last few years. This tour gave me a whole new history, beyond just the Witch Trials. Jeff is a great tour guide and he knows how to tell a story. I thought I’d heard it all, but I actually got goosebumps at one point (I won’t spoil the story for those that haven’t been yet). There are a mind-boggling number of tour groups in Salem, I did a ton of research because I was looking for something just a little bit different. I definitely found that with Better Than Fiction. While this tour does talk about the Witch Trials, they are not the only focus. There’s also quite a few stories about other dark things that have gone on in Salem. I highly recommend this tour!!!

The Better Than Fiction walking tour was great! We learned more about Salem and the dark history it has. Gruesome witch trials and who-done-it murders. If you like funny commentary to lighten the mood, I highly recommend this tour!!

Jeff was very knowledgeable, personable and helpful. He easily accommodated all ages in our tour group (20s to mid 80s) and provided insight and humor at each stop. He also added more depth to already known facts. My party in the group is very thankful to the kindness of Jeff and other fellow tour members. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Salem and looking for a 'beyond the basics' walking tour and guide.
