Salem is nearly 400 years old and just like all of us, it has a dark side. An underbelly wrought with stories for the ages. Join us for our 90 min evening walking tour as we wander through the shadows and hear stories about pirates and pepper, secrets of the oldest cemetery in Salem, brutal murders, strange legal battles, curses, spiders, torture, and of course a ghost story or two. We invite you to be part of our story and learn why true history is Better Than Fiction. -All tour guides are licensed by the City of Salem and are professional storytellers .

This was exactly what we were looking for! Jeffrey Lilley was a great story teller of the dark history of Salem without relying on cheesy ghost stories. The whole tour felt like multiple little stories weaved by a common thread that left guests to think and take away from his tale what they wanted. This tour brings Salem to life in a different way and would HIGHLY recommend to anyone who enjoys grim history over ghost stories (though there’s a little of that sprinkled in too).

This was the perfect mix of lore and history. The guide is so extremely knowledgeable about Salem and the area which made the tour go by in a flash. We saw other tours ongoing who were digging very into the “Salem is spooky and nothing else” side of the town, however, our guide gave a historically accurate and detailed account of the events that occurred in Salem (not just the trials!). I would highly recommend you take this tour on tour next trip to Boston or Salem specifically.
