Stories of Salem: Dark History and Murder Night Tour

Overview
When you hear people talk about Salem, often times the first thing that comes to mind is Witches, and Halloween, and ghosts and spooky fun, but there's so much more lurking in the shadows. Salem is nearly 400 years old and just like all of us, it has a dark side. An underbelly wrought with stories for the ages. Join us for our 90 min evening walking tour as we wander through the shadows and hear stories about pirates and pepper, secrets of the oldest cemetery in Salem, brutal murders, strange legal battles, curses, spiders, torture, and of course a ghost story or two. We invite you to be part of our story and learn why true history is Better Than Fiction. -All tour guides are licensed by the City of Salem and are professional storytellers .

Having lived in Boston for years, Iā€™ve been hoping to get to Salem and do a tour to understand the historical significance of the area for awhile now. And of course, October seemed the most fitting time! Iā€™m truly happy I finally did! This was an incredible experience! Jeff, our guide, was so passionate and articulate about sharing his knowledge - this truly helped to make the experience. You could glean from his ease of storytelling how invested he is in the topics and how much he researches and prides himself on the Better Than Fiction tour he offers. He also has a podcast, which I know Iā€™ll check out. It was so neat to learn current relevance as well. The small size group (~15 people) made the experience more intimate and enjoyable - folks could ask questions and the group was inclusive and engaged with each other. Definitely recommend!

I really enjoyed this walking tour in Salem. I had never been to the area before, and I felt that I received a great education on the town and its history through the tour. My tour guide was very well informed and enthusiastic.
