We scheduled via Tripadvisor just a couple hours before setting off on the Sunset Safari at 6 PM. The Osprey may be smaller than the other ships in the vicinity, but it is well-suited for this tour. It seemed to have plenty of speed, but was also maneuverable and the captain was able to adeptly navigate through marshlands with it. This helped us to get closer to wildlife. There was plenty of room inside for social distancing. Binoculars were available for use. We saw plenty of birds and many different species (I think about 10). Apparently, you have a chance to see a bald eagle, but unfortunately, they weren't out that day.
I really get the sense that the captain knew the birds well. Some of the birds he even knew stories about.
Our two-hour tour actually ended around 8:15. You get to see more than birds; I'm pretty sure we saw most of what there was to see by water around Cape May. We had beautiful views of the beginnings of a sunset (July 18th was our date of booking).
The only constructive criticism I might offer is that it was sometimes hard to hear, so a speaker system would have helped.
