All of Kapowui's instructors are imbued with the Aloha spirit, live within blocks of the beach (4 of them live in surf vans), surf every day and have many years teaching experience.

I booked a 2-hr lesson with Harry. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming from jump. I had indicated when I booked that I didn't mind if my solo lesson was combined with another lesson and it ended up being two of us with Harry. Both of us had taken surf lessons before and Harry had us refresh our pop ups on the beach before taking us out. We definitely got our money's worth of waves that day! I would highly recommend Kapowui to anyone - both experienced and newbies. If you don't need lessons, they have equipment rental too. If you are in the area and looking for a great way to surf solo or with a crew - give Kapowui a try.

I found kapowui surf lessons on google and I'm really glad I did because as soon as I took the first lesson I instantly fell in love with the company. Venice beach is a great spot for beginners but also people who want to improve on their surfing skills which was my case. I surfed for seven days with my instructor, Clay, he helped me improve tremendously and I really enjoyed surfing with him. He's a very fun guy to be around with and he was very patient with me . I definitely recommend Clay and this company to other people and I'm sure you will enjoy it just as much as I did! I will definitely be back next summer. YEWWW

Ruben is an amazing teacher! He explains everything very good. He’s also very friendly. He wants to improve your level and after a couple of lessons you really make progress.
