The Birmingham Ghost Walk - Hotels Churches and Riots Tour

Overview
This is the introduction and exploration of our dark and interesting history and covers many of the main haunted and unusual sights downtown. We begin with the tales of the founding of our city as a rough and tumble mine and mill town, and continue through on with missing children, and spiteful murders..  We hear the tales of two of our haunted hotels, and three of the five original churches of the city.  There is then the tale of murders most sad, which has led to the legends of the “Mermaid of the Lake” and the major riot that followed. Then continuing through the darkness, with the shadowy footsteps that follow…to the discovery of a hidden cemetery or two…

I went on this tour on short notice, as I was sent to Birmingham for work last minute. But I am glad I found the time to do this! You get to learn a lot about the city and its history, while also hearing some spooky stories. Some of the hotels in particular were creepy. David was an excellent guide - entertaining as well as knowledgeable and friendly.

We love ghost walks, so this was a natural choice when we recently visited Birmingham. Our host was funny and amiable, even though our group was a little quiet overall. But he was a great storyteller, and we had a lot of fun and learned a lot about the churches and hotels downtown--along with some spooky stories along the way.

My wife and I recently took a short weekend to visit Birmingham and do some urban exploring. As a way to entertain ourselves and also to give her a fun date night, I booked the Birmingham Ghost Walk after reading rave reviews on here. The night totally exceeded our expectations and my wife and I had an amazing time. Our tour guide, David, was not only an excellent historian and storyteller, but was also very entertaining. We would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Birmingham and wanting to learn the city's history in a spooky way.
