The Birmingham Ghost Walk - Hotels Churches and Riots Tour

Overview
This is the introduction and exploration of our dark and interesting history and covers many of the main haunted and unusual sights downtown. We begin with the tales of the founding of our city as a rough and tumble mine and mill town, and continue through on with missing children, and spiteful murders..  We hear the tales of two of our haunted hotels, and three of the five original churches of the city.  There is then the tale of murders most sad, which has led to the legends of the “Mermaid of the Lake” and the major riot that followed. Then continuing through the darkness, with the shadowy footsteps that follow…to the discovery of a hidden cemetery or two…

Great experience. Our guide David kept things entertaining and was full of knowledge. Would recommend to anyone looking for a ghost tour in the area

While she was nice, the guide didn’t appear to believe in ghosts or spirits, and didn’t do a good job of doing more than just telling stories that I could look up online. Although she was dressed to be a witch, she seemed to be making a mockery of them. She discussed Wiccan and Spiritualism as a joke and parlor tricks. This definitely wasn’t worth the money that we spent. I did enjoy seeing the architecture and learning a little of the history of the city.

I am glad that you enjoyed some aspects of the tour and I'm sorry that you do not feel you received value for your ticket price. I'm also sorry that our guide was not to your liking... Part of our tour is showing the historic origins of spiritualism, which is rife with fraud. While some of the aspects of our tour can be looked up online, the greatest bulk of it is through my personal years of research in state and local archives, private collections and interviews to discover things that you cannot find any other way.
