This was our 2nd trip to Costa Rica and our first to Monteverde. Last time, we zip-lined in a dry, uninteresting location in northwest Guanacaste. This time, we did some homework and picked The Original Canopy Tour, reserving online before we left home. It took 10 days for a response, so make sure you leave enough time if you are booking ahead. But they did respond, letting us know we were confirmed for the first tour of the day. They contacted our B&B a day ahead with the pickup time and were prompt. We were joined by another group of 5 bringing our numbers to 9. Three guides saw us to a 1st stop at the optional tarzan swing. Then we were off to the 14 ziplines, with an optional rappel mid-way. Many were just under the tree canopies, and several long ones popped you out over the tops giving magnificent views of the valley, even in the drizzle. We saw a green toucan and heard many other bird calls along the way. We picked this tour over others as the service is more personal in their smaller groups. We very much appreciated the guides taking pics and video with our own cameras. Our sons, 17 & 22, loved it!

We wanted to visit a canopy your with small groups and where our kids (8&9)could stay with us, and original canopy tour was a perfect match. There were only two other people in our group and two friendly guides. The guides even offered to take pictures for us with my iPhone for the entire tour- which I highly recommend! A great choice for our family's first canopy tour!

We looked over all the operators with zip lines and picked the Original Canopy Tour because it seemed the least commercial and most authentic and it did not disappoint. We had read reviews of the other zip line companies that mentioned complaints of feeling hurried from platform to platform and the guides being inpatient, but that was not the case at the Original. Only one small group at a time goes through the course and we had a small group of 10--the guides made it fun but were very safety conscious. We arranged our morning tour by reserving online at their website-they also provided free transportation from our hotel in Santa Elena.
