Had a great time on the Original Canopy Tour. We stayed at the Cloud Forest Lodge which made this very convenient for us. We started at 7:30 in the morning on a clear Santa Elena day. Alonso welcomed us and did a great job explaining what to expect on our tour. We then learned about zip lining technique from Gerald. He gave us easy to understand directions on how to brake, straighten yourself from rotation, and the hand signals for braking or not braking. We started with the Tarzan swing. I would’ve liked to have been there to watch them install the lines on the huge tree; it was very high up! After that first swing we were all smiles. We continued with 14 zip lines, a rappel and climbing through a hollow tree. I think the original tree was strangled by another jungle tree (a ficus I believe) and when it died I assume the termites and fungus caused it to disappear leaving a hollow core. The tour guides sprinkled the tour with humor. For example, David asked me, “Is this your first time on a zipline?” “Yes” I replied. David then looked at me and wryly stated, “Me too.” Keiver was also part of our excellent four member team. Our group wasn’t too big, 13 customers, making it overall a memorable and exhilarating experience.
