This is another of K. Krombie's interesting and informative tours. With each of the tours (this is my 3rd ), I am so impressed with her broad knowledge of the subject she is covering. I knew only part of the history of Psychiatry in NY, but upon completing the tour, I realized how much more of the story could be found on the upper east side of Manhattan. Khira presents the information with so much enthusiasm that you can't help being drawn into the historical stories she includes. I promise, you'll love it.

I have been taking walking tours in New York City for 20 years and I have never been on a more fascinating, comprehensive, stimulating and educational one than this! Khira offers s depth and breadth of knowledge about New York City and the history of psychiatry that will make your jaw drop. The walk is lovely (a wonderful thing to do with visitors from out of town or people who've lived here their whole lives), and the pace is just right, but the real treasure is the knowledge you'll walk away with. You'll be amused at how many times someone in the group says: "Wow!" "No Way!" "That is amazing!" and how many times you say it yourself. Go - this is special.

The Purefinder tour led by Khira was a complete turn-on! Khira's knowledge about the psychiatric history of NYC (and the history of New York in general) is rich and relevant. Her lively personality, witty humor, and ability to infuse a fascinating spin on topics ranging from the Sackler family to the Butcher of Tompkins Park was unforgettable. I learned a lot about the history of immigration and how the management of mental illness in an urban society has evolved over the years. Will definitely take other Purefinder tours and invite my friends.
