Ticket pass to the Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center (Self-Guided Tour)

Overview
No venue in the Smokies provides a better glimpse into the human history and diverse cultures that have inhabited this beautiful region. From the Native American villages of 10,000 years ago to the moonshine culture of the 20th century, the Heritage Center offers a little something for everyone. You can also tour authentic structures of the region which have been relocated to the Heritage Center campus for preservation and interpretation. These structures are fully furnished, just as you would have encountered them in their original locations. Included in the collection are log structures dating to circa 1800 as well as a church, a sawmill, a blacksmith shop, cantilever barns, and even a moonshine still house!

My wife and I had a very interesting and pleasant tour of the centre. The staff seem very knowledgeable and we would highly recommend spending time here.

Outside: Taking a walk into the past, seeing how our ancestors lived. Inside: Seeing and reading about the Cherokee and how they lived.

This is well worth it. Reasonable entrance fee. We spent 2 hours, I would suggest 3. They do have a few issues. They had a GREAT video which could hardly be heard because it was played so low. It was right out in the open with people coming and going all around you. If they can not move the video, they need to add closed captions.

Thank you so much for your review and feedback on your visit to the Heritage Center. We will certainly look at adding closed captioning to that video presentation, and in fact, it is probably something we should have done when we set up the viewing area. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We're also glad you enjoyed the rest of your visit, and we sincerely hope that you'll stop again in the future!
