As a vertigo sufferer, I knew I was going to struggle with going up either the Empire State Building or the Rockefeller Plaza, so I went with the flow when my friend said she'd prefer Top of the Rock. My daughter-in-law said I'd like the Art Deco murals and statues. I duly booked (most expensive attraction we visited) two timed tickets. After much wandering around the Rockefeller Plaza, we finally found the appropriate entrance and as we were early, went down to the subterranean shopping mall. Underwhelming. Joining the queue to go up slightly early, we yet again realised that pre-booking timed tickets does not preclude lengthy queues. Again, full airport security (understandable of course) and then the 1930's lift capacity meant a lot of hanging around in line, with the usual barked orders and commands issuing from those in charge! I thought we'd get to see some of the famed Art Deco interiors, but apart from glimpsing some murals and a fine stairwell as we approached a lift, nothing. You are taken up to the first viewing deck (the restrooms, naturally are on another floor, dictating a quick bounce up and down in some lifts). There's a splendid view of course, and a tiny gift shop with all the famous photos of the construction workmen eating their lunch on a girder (makes me feel quite ill even looking at it). I'd anticipated restaurants, and just a whole lot more. You could walk up some steps to a slightly higher viewing point with less glass screens which gave you a fine view out towards Central Park as well as the Empire State Building and slightly shrouded view of the Chrysler building. And that was it. We were both very disappointed. This was slightly mitigated by coming out of another entrance, abutting Fifth Avenue, and being able to see the murals, statues and the pretty water garden.

I’ve only use Viator a few times but each time I’ve use them it has been a pleasant experience, so yes, I would give them five stars

Lovely views from the top but overpriced. 9/11 museum cheaper and more to see. If they halved the cost it would be about right
