Spectacular views of the city. It was a warm, clear day. We had fun searching for locations previously visited and recalling those experiences as well. Also, we remembered the talented, hardworking laborers who built it. Thank you, guys.

We went mid-morning close to opening time, so there weren't any queues. The elevator ride was definitely the least interesting of the five, but obviously it's one of the oldest ones in the city. Security was airport-style since it's one of the older ones, but again, we had no queue, so we had no problem about it. At the top, there were three observation levels, alongside a gift shop at one of them. The fact that it's open-air and no glass panes made it feel refreshing and it allows clear pictures unlike One World, Edge, and Summit where being indoors and/or glass panes being glare and partial reflection to the camera shots of the skyline.

It was our second visit to "The top of the Rock", just 14 years apart and this time with our young children. We saw walking past on previous days that people needed a timed ticket and so we booked ours for a time slot that was just 45 minutes in advance. Every member of staff we interacted with was welcoming, informative and professional. This 45 minutes gave us time for a wander around the shops on the lower floors. Although it really was very busy in the queue, it seemed to move at a reasonably fast pace to get us to the lift to go to the top. It was mid day and it did not feel too cramped. It was very very hot at the time we visited so we did not stay too long. We purchased the extra guide for $2 so we could identify which buildings were which. Our children liked this, but certainly not necessary. The gift shop at the top was very small, but seemed to sell a selection of items. There was a very large queue for coming back down and you are shepherded through a photo opportunity for buying a photo. We declined this, as did several other people and we walked past this to get back inside to join the queue. We knew we wouldn't purchase a photo and didn't particularly feel forced into it, they acknowledged our request to by-pass this. Our children were getting abit too warm and as luck would have it a member of staff took us out of the queue and walked us right to the front to go down. I've no idea why, but we were so grateful and he was super kind to us. If he hadn't have, the wait to come down would have been quite a long one. It wasn't a cheap experience, costing around $163 for four of us. It was one of the cheaper high viewing attractions and would definitely recommend. The view has changed somewhat in the last 14 years and central park not quite as visible as it was before.
