Colder weather but beautiful countryside and people! Excellent Amish meats, cheeses and crafts. We went to the town of ā€œIntercourseā€ and found reasonable deals on Christmas place mats at the farmers market. We stayed in the Hampton Inn Lancaster and found it to be a great base to start and finish from. A warning!!! Lancaster and outlying areas are not a huge tourist trap so you have to actually hunt great Amish experiences.

On a beautiful 45Ā° day I, and friends from Florida, decided to take a day trip to Lancaster, PA. When I booked through Trip Advisor, it was not until I had confirmation on the booking that i was given the time to meet my guide! DON'T DO THAT TRIP ADVISOR!! I was paniced because I thought I lost all my money!! There was NO WAY i was making that being TWO HOURS AWAY!! BUT, the next morning our guide, PHIL, texted me a greeting. I explained my situation and, FORTUNATELY, Phil was able to accommodate my travel time! (First starā!) Phil called me 5 minutes prior to our start time to let me know he was present and waiting (second star ā for great communication!). Phil took us on a wonderfully informative 45 minute walking tour of Lancaster, a city that was bustling and clean. Phil was quite a local historian and explained so much! He is also a local and has an Amish backround. (ā) Then he put us on his clean, comfortable bus and took us out to the true Amish countryside! First stop was one of the area's covered bridges! Phil was able to stop while was all had a photo op! (ā) Then off to a farm/creamery where Phil treated us to a waffle cone bowl of the freshest ice cream ever! They also sold farm fresh cheese, eggs, milk, butter, and goats milk. (ā) From there Phil drove to an Amish farm to meet the sweetest children and pet the animals. We all had our photo taken in their buggy! The oldest boy, Amos, was quite the woodworker who crafted beautiful birdhouses that were reasonably priced. (ā) The back to the bus for our informative ride back to where we started. Phil could not have impressed us more! He was an outstanding guide and an overall great person making our time with him memorable and pleasant! (āāāāāāā) Overall, we give this experience and guide a higher than possible rating and highly recommend! But I reccomend to Trip Advisor to fix the time issue!
