We had arranged for a U-Street tour for our group of 40 hand-picked scholars while we were touring Washington, D.C. They accommodated our group splendidly. We split our group into two smaller groups and each had their own tour guide. Each group went to the same locations, but in a different order. The guides did an amazing job of making the tour relevant to our group, and our students were able to try and see things that are not available back home. The stop at the Ethiopian restaurant was the one that stretched our students the most, but the majority of them loved the food. I also particularly enjoyed the discussion about several of the amazing murals in this neighborhood. It's wonderful to see this area rise up, and this tour was the perfect way to see it!

I would really have liked to go on this food tour, but in trying to sign up I got an error message that said attendees had to number from 2 to 15. So no one travelling alone can take this tour. That really sucks. I have taken food tours in lots of other cities, and have never heard of this restriction. Who ever runs this company is a dolt.

Hi TamMpls~ I'm so sorry that you had this experience. We do welcome single travelers but for logistical purposes, our system only allowed people to book a single ticket once we already had two others signed up. Please understand that it simply did not make financial sense to take out a single person in the case that no one else booked. We wish you would have reached out directly and we could have likely done an override for you. Online booking platforms are great but clearly do not allow us to always provide the personalized service that we can offer with direct contact. I understand that it is too late to accommodate you now, but please be advised that we've adjusted our system and single travelers are now able to book, even if no one else is yet signed up for a tour. Cheers, Mary

We were looking for local culture and a tasty morsel of DC. We found it and more on what became the highlight of our DC visit. The tour was well-paced, jam-packed with insightful information, and the food stops were eclectic, well thought out, and DELICIOUS! Our guide Marisa was charming and thoroughly engaging. If you need to take a break from the 'A' list monument and museum outings, I highly recommend this tour. You will get a real feeling for the pulse that was (and IS) a thriving DC neighborhood in transition.

Hi Dauntless_Traveler~ So glad that we "fit the bill" for the experience you were looking for in DC. Of course, the monuments and memorials are well worth visiting and we love being a great complement to that side of Washington. We love being able to share the stories of the local neighborhoods and the stories of the people - and the food! - that helped shape them. Cheers, Mary
