Valley of Fire and California Mojave Desert Tour

Overview
The Mojave Desert is a xeric desert in the rain shadow of the Sierra Nevada mountains in the Southwestern United States. It is named for the indigenous Mojave people. It is located primarily in southeastern California and southwestern Nevada, with small portions extending into Arizona and Utah.
Valley of Fire State Park is a public recreation and nature preservation area covering nearly 46,000 acres (19,000 ha) located 16 miles (26 km) south of Overton, Nevada. The state park derives its name from red sandstone formations, the Aztec Sandstone, which formed from shifting sand dunes 150 million years ago. These features, which are the centerpiece of the park's attractions, often appear to be on fire when reflecting the sun's rays. It is Nevada's oldest state park, as commemorated with Nevada Historical Marker #150. It was designated as a National Natural Landmark in 1968.

Driver Robert was delightful! However, there was no tour guide to narrate this road trip, so I wonā€™t consider it a tour, even though it was advertised as such. Kids snacks, no lunchā€¦ I would not recommend.

The tour was professionally conducted with an on-schedule pickup at a strip hotel. The arrangements are sent the night before via text. The drive to the Valley of Fire State Park is about 60 to 70 minutes with nice views of the desert on the way there. Driver did not talk too much on the way and played 80s pop music on the radio instead. No big deal as this was relaxing. As for the tour: WHAT IT IS: This is for photos and making the most out of scenic views. The guide will take whatever you want and if you are willing to be more adventurous you can mold the experience to your expectations. There were six stops along the road and some of the views do require some light hiking and some careful walking up rocks. PLEASE DON'T BE DISRESPECTABLE AND WEAR THE CORRECT SHOES...no flip flops or sandals. Water and snacks were included. And you will go through the water. There are restrooms along the way including a 30 minute stop at the visitor center (there is affordable lunch options there if needed). WHAT IT IS NOT: You won't learn much about the park itself or the ancient writings on the stones. The guide did not provide much depth there but I think that would be a different kind of tour.
