The Verde Canyon Railroad round trip adventure takes about 4 hours. Leaving Clarkdale you travel through the wilderness of red rock canyons to the Perkinsville ghost ranch and back. The trip is filled with Indian Lore, historic, geologic sights and two National Forests filled with wildlife. A friendly attendant serves drinks and maintains the free snack bar with a variety of snacks for any pallet. I recommend this adventure for both young and old.

Went on the train ride with my wife as a birthday treat. We travelled from Phoenix while on holiday. It took us about 2 hours in the car taking in some fantastic scenery on the way. The train leaves the station around 12.30 daily. We were welcomed on the train by our guide for the day and taken to our first class carriage. Once on Board we were treated Smith a glass of Champaign and some nibbles to begin a 2 hour ride into the Verde Canyon. We had a table for 2 looking out the window and we headed off into the canyon. We were given great views and narration on the journey. At one end of the carriage we were able to walk out into an open air carriage to take in the open air and the miles of breath taking scenery, absorbing the sun as we were guided through the history of the canyon. Well worth the effort and the money spent. Great day spent by us on a special day.

We had a nice four hour ride with a small buffet and plenty of water. Drinks were available for purchase. I tried the prickly pear lemonade which was delicious. Window seats gave great views. Overhead speakers play train songs mixed with stories from the ride. Head out to the viewing cars and hear the guide tell you more. We saw a bald eagle up close!! Beautiful views too of cliff dwellings. Although it was quite hot outside-over 110- it was air conditioned inside- not cold but comfortable. Well worth the ride.
