For 3.5-hours, enjoy comfort and style, exceptional amenities and outstanding service in vintage rail cars on a century-old route. Wind your way through a red rock paradise, with tracks that hug the curves of the Verde River. Every season offers a different reason to ride! Astonishing views of a wild and vibrant frontier, historic trestles, bridges and a 7000-foot tunnel are just a few of the highlights tucked into unusual rock formations, red rock pinnacles and towering crimson cliffs. Majestic bald eagles and hawks float effortlessly on the breeze above Javelina, wild burros, jackrabbits and many other Canyon creatures, peacefully coexisting with this heritage railroad for more than 100 years.

This was a fun excursion. My husband and I did the upgrade which got us in the comfy cars, With the upgrade you get food too. Chicken wings, half sandwiches, fruit, and cookies. In each car you have a bartender and a person to point out the sites. Jenny was our bartender and "Shoe" kept up the commentary on the different things we were seeing. Both Jenny and Shoe had a great sense of humor. Besides the comfy car there is also an open car for each one where you can go outside for photo taking. It's a 20 mile trip one way and then they move the engine to the opposite end and do the 20 miles back. My only suggestion for this trip is that it would be better during the fall when the aspens are changing colors or even later in the season when the leaves have fallen.

Thank you for riding the rails with us and for sharing this great 5-star review. We will be sure to share your kind compliments with Jenny and Shoe. We are fortunate to have such a fantastic train crew! As you realized, every season offers a beautiful new reason to ride. Come back and join us for fall colors (late October/early November) or winter, when the canyon's magnificent bone structure is on full display and migrating bald eagles join our resident raptors.

could not really see anything most of the trip other than trees on the side of the track. if they could cut the trees right next to the track it would probably be a great trip.

We took the starlight tour, which only happens a few times a year. Over all its a great trip. One downside is that the tour leaves later during the day, you arrive at the halfway point after the sun goes down and don't get to see anything at Perkinsville. Then the second half of the trip is in total darkness, other than the stars and the outlines of the canyon you will not see anything for the two hour trip back. The trip should start earlier and the transition into the night should take later.

Thank you for riding the rails with us and sharing your positive 4-star review. We appreciate your feedback. The wide range of light in the canyon on these special summer Starlight trips begins in full sun, traveling through sunset into twilight, starlight, and full moon if the schedule allows. Later summer trips, when the sun is setting earlier, do have more starlight during the 2nd half of the trip than those in earlier summer.
