The Bryan Museum was a great find for us! We easily enjoyed a couple hours there. They have quite a collection. There’s a Spanish Colonial Gallery, Texas Frontier Gallery, Statehood and Beyond Gallery and lots of other wonderful things to see. There are large collections of historical firearms, saddles, Spurs, clothing, artwork, etc. There’s a display about cowGIRLS and some other cowgirl items in other places. Displays are well done with informational labels and iPads with touch screens that explain various items. There is some beautiful artwork from various times and there are even three paintings by Andy Warhol. One of those is of Annie Oakley. Pretty cool! The tour starts with an 8 minute video introduction to the collections in the museum. Great place to go on a rainy day, in the heat of the day in summer or any time. We really enjoyed it.

We are relatively frequent visitors to Galveston, but this was our first visit to this museum. It was excellent containing memorabilia from the collection of Texas oilman, J.P. Bryan. Located in the historic Galveston Orphanage, the architecture of the building itself is impressive. I would consider this museum a "must see" for visitors to Galveston. It is in walking distance from the Hotel Galvez and has free parking at the museum.

I'm not much of a history buff, but even I enjoyed the displays. Very well done and maintained. The cave set up for children's parties is really neat.
