What To Expect

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

Travelers will take of from Hilo Airport where they will fly directly to the volcanoes national park. Along the way they will see orchid farms and lush native forest that are in large part only found on big island. The volcanoes national park gives breathtaking views of lava flows both old and new.

Kam was a highly knowledgeable and thoughtful pilot. She knew all about the island, the volcanoes genesis and answered all our questions. She went around the sites twice to allow passengers from both sides to see them. She let us know when it might get bumpy. You need to know that you will be seated according to your weight in order to balance the aircraft and that the 2 passengers in the middle of the backseat will only get a partial view. We were lucky to be seated in the front but the bench is very tight!

Fantastic tour; all the staff were friendly and helpful - Cookie, Stephanie, and Sam the pilot. Sam was a great pilot, and informative and funny tour guide. We loved it!!

Hiking just a mile on paved Devastation Trail brought us to an overlook of the caldera of Kilauea, with steaming cracks miles long & flares of red-orange flames. Finally at dusk, a perfect lake of lava shone like a neon sign, directing our attention to powerful Pele.
