What To Expect

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

Travelers will take of from Hilo Airport where they will fly directly to the volcanoes national park. Along the way they will see orchid farms and lush native forest that are in large part only found on big island. The volcanoes national park gives breathtaking views of lava flows both old and new.

We had a great time with Safari helicopters. We were concerned they would have to cancel our flight due to weather, but they were able to sneak it in during a clear moment. Sam was our pilot and she was absolutely fantastic. She very appropriately explained she is a pilot first and tour guide second, but balanced both very well throughout the entire 55 minute helicopter ride. We were able to see some active lava flow and Sam did a great job ensuring both sides of the helicopter were able to see that as well as some waterfalls in the area. Would absolutely buck with Safari helicopters again. The office staff are also fantastic and very kind.

Kyle was our pilot and his narration and Aloha spirit made this flight even more amazing! I was worried about myself and my oldest child being nauseous as we both can get motion sick occasionally but Kyle's smooth flying made it perfect. My son even talked about becoming an helicopter pilot after. We were lucky that the crater had lava. Thank you, Kyle!
