We've been going on the two hour dolphin sighting cruise every year for several years, and look forward to it each time we visit Cape May. The Whale Watcher is a family owned and operated business. This hard working family provide visitors with a great experience. We have seen dolphins every single time - including baby dolphins! The Captain is always informative and will answer all questions. This past week - the Captain pointed out bald eagles nesting in the trees as we passed by on the boat. Really exciting to see! The dolphin cruise is a wonderfully relaxing way to spend two hours on a summer day. It's a great vacation memory!

We booked this 3 hour dolphin and whale watching tour with a Groupon discount. The captain and crew on the boat were very courteous and professional, knowledgeable and vigilant about everyone's safety. A little off the shore of Cape May and Wildwood, we saw many pods of dolphins feeding. The boat then went over 3 miles offshore to the feeding spot of a humpback whale. Although the whale did not breach, we spent about a half hour watching the whale surface and dive before we returned to Cape May. This excursion is a good alternative to lying on the beach day after day. The 3 hours is a bit long for young children especially when about 1 1/2 hours are spent going to and coming from feeding spots. However there are shorter excursions available if you can pass up the humpback sighting. The boat has bathrooms and a well-stocked snack bar and the food prices are not outrageous. Passengers have a choice of seating - air conditioned interior below, covered open air seating on top, plus uncovered lounge chairs if you're working on your tan.

The spouse and I were looking for a fun and educational day trip with three of our grandchildren. That is a tall order when you consider the fact that they are 12, 13 and 15. I really enjoy watching whales and I remember hearing about a number of whale sightings off the cape last year. So we purchased tickets, packed lunch and made the two and a half mile to Cape May. It was a pretty, hot August day and we quickly gave up on sitting on deck in the afternoon sun. The boat was cool inside, but it wasn't long before we were outside again to see first dolphins and then - whales! The captain offered an ongoing educational and at times funny commentary and we all agreed - it was a worthwhile and fun trip. When the 12, 13 and 15 year olds say it was fun and the spouse and I enjoyed it too - it was fun.
