My husband and I took a trip in late August to celebrate our anniversary and this is where we chose to go. We did the 4 day adventure package which included whitewater rafting on the Menominee and Peshtigo rivers, tower climbing, paint-balling and the camp site at the Peshtigo outpost where we pitched a tent (for the first time in 21 years!). Our campsite was literally about a meter or two away from the river bank where we slept soundly listening to the white noise of the bubbling river. We had almost the entire camp area to ourselves for most of the time. The bathhouse was clean and close to our site. Remember to bring some quarters to use the shower if you go: it was $1 to use it. It was our first time doing these activities and we both loved it and had a blast. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Garrett, our group's white water raft guide who had a clear zest for life!!! Dan was our climbing, single raft, kayak guide and he was friendly and knowledgeable. Thanks to Zack, Maddie and Amy who also were wonderful. I'd recommend this to all my friends and family with a keen sense of adventure who are willing to test their limits. I personally think this is best suited to teen to adult age range. The cabins that we took a look at were awesome too. It was very reasonably priced, even after including gratuities. The picture CD that we purchased was a bit pricey ($45) but totally worth it because there were about 99 cool pictures of us going white water rafting. I think my face hurt from smiling all week!

I was scared to death to go rafting but my family likes fun exciting adventures so I had to include this in our trip to the U.P. as we were driving right past it. After white water rafting at Wildman, I can't wait to do it again!! What an awesome resort surrounded by fun activities! Bring water shoes!! We also put on sunscreen & bug spray before our trip. Everyone (even the girls) wore athletic type clothing that doesn't stick to you & dries fast. I kept my sunglasses on with no problems. There is a changing room & bathroom available in the gift shop (they sell water shoes too). We arrived early but our trip started right on time. 8 people in each boat plus the guide. A full boat of friends/family would have been more fun than going with strangers, so bring your whole crew along! You put a helmet & life jacket on then board a bus to get to the river. Not a long ride 10-15 min. The guide tells you all the safety rules when you first get onto the river. His knowledge & experience made me feel safe even though I was very nervous. He spoke & demonstrated so all ages would understand. We were on the water between 1-2 hours & our trip time ended early. I'm sure time varies a lot with water/weather conditions. We are middle aged & a bit out of shape. Paddling was NOT a problem, anyone can do this & there are plenty of breaks with no paddling. No one was sore after the trip. Heavier people are not an issue, they never asked weight & never proportioned the boat evenly. We had kids on our raft, the under 12 yr olds had to get off the boat during the level 4 Rapids (insurance reasons) & walk with a parent on a trail to meet the boat again. (One kid that got off the boat was bigger than the kid that stayed on, they will ask you the ages of your children when you reserve your activity). After the trip, we changed into dry clothes & enjoyed a beer at their bar, which is just like a normal tavern. We tipped our awesome guide & looked at the photos of our trip that were available to purchase. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for an adventure, a great family experience or an adrenaline rush. I felt safe the entire trip - thanks to our guide & everyone had a blast! The kids will always remember this incredible experience! Note: there is a time change near this area, Wildman is in central time zone. Also, prices are listed on their website.

Mini weekday late July vacation with my wife and 2 teenage boys. Stayed in Iron Mt. 2-nights as there were no cabins available at Wildman. As a side note got 2 nights at County Inn and Suites for $48 per night on Priceline (there are only 2 (2.5 star) hotels in Iron Mt. so you know which one you will get as the other is a Holiday Inn. Did the zip lining in the morning and rafted the Menominee in the afternoon. Both activities were great, but the rafting was my favorite. Our two guides for zip lining were both fantastic and made you feel safe. The rafting was organized and had a nice family atmosphere to it. The class 4 rapids was like going on the most exciting 1-minute thrill ride ever...and you got to do it twice! You also went down a class 2 and 3 rapids once each. James was our rafting guide and was excellent! I would recommend these two Wildman Adventures to anyone looking to experience something new and exciting. When you compare the cost of our day at Wildman to going to a major league baseball game there is no comparison to the value you get here. Plus the smiles on the kids (and adults) faces are something you won't get at a baseball game.
