Lots of history shared at Whitney Plantation without trying to gloss over what life was like. The Ragin Cajun Airboat tours were brilliant. March is a little early for many of the gators but still saw some of the smaller ones. Excellent time if you want to avoid mosquitos.

We participated in the Airboat and plantation tour which we visited Whitney Plantation. It was a self guided tour with hand held devise we could hear as we walked along the paths of the plantation. Truly a humbling and somber experience. We were so glad we visited this plantation for the history and perspective from the slaves on this tour. After, we stopped at Oak valley plantation for a quick snack and headed to airboat tour through the swamps. This was a fun and lively experience seeing gators/ turtles/various wild life. We had a great time. This was during Mardi Gras - we were picked up at our hotel, however on the return our driver could not get us back to the closed roads, but we were well aware of this prior to booking after experiencing how difficult it was even on foot trying to navigate the parade routes. Not a big deal we love walking and was probably 1/2 a mile.

Our guide, Brian, was very entertaining and knowledgeable. The plantation experience was impactful and the swamp airboat tour was thrilling.
