Whitney Plantation

The Whitney Plantation offers you an opportunity to experience the story of plantation life in Louisiana from the perspective of those enslaved. It does a good job of not glorifying the ownership. The 45 min drive home gives you a quick chance to nap prior to hitting the town.

Thanks to our guide, Jeffrey for a fantastic trip through the swamp! The plantation tour was also very informative and was presented through the perspective of enslaved people; highly recommended!!

We had a wonderful day. The weather was terrible in the morning but our guide, Will, was professional and cheerful. He was able to change the order of the day to accommodate. We went to the Oak Lane plantation, enjoyed the tour and the grounds. They served us a beautiful, yummy lunch and then, lucky us, the weather cleared and we spent the afternoon kayaking and learning. Will was full of great information and obviously loved sharing his knowledge of the swamp and New Orleans. I would recommend this tour to anyone coming to New Orleans.

This was a highlight of our three week holiday in the USA. Kayaking in the bayous was a peaceful and beautiful interlude from the race of the cities. Our guide Josh was extremely knowledgeable and had great eyes for spotting critters. He made the tour excellent.
