The Willamette Valley wine region, once known for its fruit orchards and nurseries, has become one of the United States' premier producers of cool-climate varietals like pinot noir. Start your wine country tour with hotel pickup from downtown Portland, and make your way by Mercedes Sprinter Van to three wineries carefully chosen by us. Portland is the perfect hub for exploring quiet backcountry roads through Oregon’s wine country, with more than half of the state’s 500 or so wineries located about 45 minutes away in the nearby Willamette Valley taking in beautiful vistas of gently rolling hills that give way to the expansive valley with views the Cascade Mountains. At each winery, taste a select group of varietals that will please even the most discerning palate, from reds like Pinot Noir Cabernet Franc to award-winning Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Rose, Riesling & more. ITINERARY Wineries visited in this region may vary based on day of the week and winery availability.

We had a very enjoyable afternoon, and the wine we sampled was excellent. Aaron was a very knowledgeable guide, and handled everything beautifully.

At the start of our tour, I'll admit we weren't quite sure how the day was going to turn out. Our guide Heather had informed us that she was new to the Portland area and had only worked for this company for the summer. In addition to that, today we would be trying three wineries not previously visited by this tour service, and that the wineries themselves were not in any of the valley's designated viticultural areas. But all that turned out to be an asset. Heather was clearly an experienced guide who loves her job and had done her homework on Portland. And each of the three wineries were excellent. We tasted at Campbell Lane, Tumwater, and Twill. Each provided us with a private tasting experience in increasingly intimate spaces. Where Tumwater was an elegant and modern tasting room, Campbell Lane had us sampling pinots inside their private home. We brought home two bottles of wine by the end of it. We had a wonderful day and would happily use the service again.
