REVIEW – ALASKA There is nothing better to do on summer holidays than making a big trip, choosing a great destination such as the Alaska, the most spectacular region of the USA, or even the World, especially for those who enjoy great sceneries, the preservation of wildlife and places where environmental issues are a priority. Our adventure started in Anchorage, where we visited the city and its surroundings, with the help of “Anchorage Downtown Tour Group”, having Russ Reno as our guide, the best tourist guide in the city. We had the chance to take a private tour for 4 tourists and it was an amazing experience, because we could learn many things about Alaska’s recent history, the evolution of local economy, and we also visited wonderful places unrepeatable on the planet. We had the opportunity to admire fabulous mountains covered by glaciers, many rivers, lakes, and the fjords where Beluga whales swim quietly. A cruise on the lake to the impressive Portage Glacier was included on the tour, as well as the visit to the Wildlife Conservation Centre, a place where rescued animals have their permanent comfortable homes. It was the best way to get up close to Alaska’s wildlife, observing some emblematic species: brown bears (grizzly); dark bears; polar bears; moose; reindeer; caribous, etc. To sum up, we had a wonderful time in Anchorage and recommend it to all who want to have a fantastic experience in a surprising and wonderful region from the earth, very well preserved by the inhabitants e much appreciated by all the people going there.

Russ Reno is the man to go see, explain to him what you are interested in and how long you have and he will give you ideas and customise specific tours and activities for you. We had four days in Anchorage and we seen so much it was brilliant, from a first time experience in a float plane over the Chugach mountains, glaciers galore and landing on a glacial lake. An all day tour with Russ as our guide and chauffeur, we travelled along the turnagain arm where we were lucky to view beluga whales, a glacial cruise to Portage glacier and lake was amazing, then onto Whittier where we seen a black bear on the side of the road, and devoured a delicious lunch of halibut, shrimp, scallops then onto the wildlife centre which was amazing! Grizzlies, black bears, moose, reindeer, wolves, muskox, sitka deer, bison and arctic fox. Russ stopped at many points of interest and is full of local knowledge and history, he goes out of his way to achieve and find what his clients want to see and experience, highly recommend going to see him if you prefer a more personalised experience.
