Overview

Your experience is very unique because it is on a specifically designed whale watching boat. There will be only up to 13 guests aboard so there is plenty of room inside and out for everyone. Your experienced captain is a local resident with a great deal of knowledge of the wildlife and area, and lots of good stories to tell. Our tour length ensures that you have plenty of time to relax and enjoy the beauty of our area and the incredible wildlife. We’ve been sharing our part of the world with enthusiastic guests for over 25 years and would love to share it with you, too.

What To Expect

Hoonah

We will meet you at the Excursions Hub and transport you in our van to Hoonah (a 5-minute drive), where you will board the boat for your whale and wildlife tour. After returning to the harbor, you'll be met by the van and driven back to Icy Strait Point.

This excursion was phenomenal. The information they gave us was great. Casey and Kyle were great. So friendly and had great knowledge of the whole area and the whales. We saw so many whales. I was hoping to see at least one whale, but we saw so many, I lost count. The memories will last a lifetime. I would recommend this excursion with this company hands down. Thank you so much.

Great day and a great company. From start to finish. Including the booking emails, correspondence, directions, actual tour, information... Boat was immaculate. We were absolutely thrilled and wished our 2nd tour was as good (unfortunately it wasn't!) We saw many whales including 4 together plus sea lions. Also the information during the tour was fascinating. Both my husband and I enjoy small groups like this as we feel it's more personal and friendlier. We definitely will return!

We took this tour and it was spectacular, the boat captain had a radio report that Orca's were spotted earlier in the day and gave us a choice of orca's or hump back whales. Typically Orca's are only spotted a couple of time a year. We choose Orca's and off we went. It wasn't long and the captain spotted the orca pods, it was incredible!!! We followed the Orcas for over an hour with amazing photo and videos. The captain then took us for Humpback Whale viewing and Sea Lions. This is a family run business and the Captain and his family have lived on Hoonah Alaska Island all their life. Also the boat is brand new this year (2024) You wont be disappointed in this charter. We are so glad your experience was spectacular! Getting to see the orcas for so long was pretty lucky! We are fortunate to see orcas quite a bit in September and about every 10 tours or so the rest of the summer. Our boat really looks brand new but we’ve had it three seasons already.
